Fire Outbreak Causes Massive Losses in Lagos Markets
In the early hours of Tuesday, February 25, 2025, devastating fires engulfed both Ladipo Market in Mushin and Owode Onirin Market along Ikorodu Road in Lagos, resulting in the destruction of goods worth millions of naira.
The inferno at Ladipo Market began around 1 a.m., rapidly consuming numerous shops and warehouses stocked with mechanical tools, vehicle spare parts, motorcycles, and household electrical appliances. Simultaneously, another blaze erupted at Owode Onirin Market, affecting several shops dealing in metallic materials.
Firefighters from multiple stations, including Isolo, Bolade, Alausa, and Ikorodu, responded promptly and managed to contain both fires by early morning, preventing further spread to adjacent properties.
