Labour Party’s Akpata Coping with Personal Loss
Olumide Akpata, the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association and Labour Party governorship candidate in Edo State, has recently experienced the loss of both his father, Dr. Henry Akpata, and his uncle, Dr. Sunny Akpata.
During his gubernatorial campaign, his uncle passed away, and due to campaign commitments, the family was unable to hold the burial until November 2024. Shortly after, his father fell gravely ill and passed away on January 10, 2025.
These personal tragedies led Akpata to take a four-month hiatus from public engagements and social media. In a recent statement, he expressed gratitude for the support received and reaffirmed his commitment to public service, indicating plans to resume public engagements soon.
