Shari’ah Council: Muslim-Muslim Ticket's Impact on Community

Examining the Muslim-Muslim Ticket and Its Effects

The Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) has expressed disappointment regarding the Muslim-Muslim ticket that led to the election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2023.

Despite both leaders sharing the Islamic faith, the council asserts that this political alignment has not translated into tangible improvements for the Muslim community in Nigeria. The SCSN emphasizes that the anticipated benefits of having both the President and Vice President as Muslims have not materialized, leaving the community’s challenges unaddressed.

Furthermore, the council has raised concerns about attempts to suppress the religious rights of Muslims in the Southwest region. They highlight efforts to prevent the observance of Sharia law, which is integral to their faith, and stress the importance of allowing Muslims to practice their religion in harmony with their Christian neighbors.
