Female Armed Robbers and Accomplices Arrested in South Africa

South Africa: Arrest of Two Female Armed Robbers and Three Accomplices

On March 2, 2025, South African authorities arrested two female armed robbers and their three male accomplices in the Norwood area. The suspects have been charged with robbery and possession of stolen property and are currently held at Norwood SAPS, awaiting a court appearance.

This incident highlights the involvement of women in armed robbery activities, a trend that has been observed in various regions. For example, in April 2023, a young woman and two male accomplices were arrested in Ghana’s Central Region for their involvement in a series of armed robberies. The trio allegedly attacked a driver, seized his vehicle, and robbed him of personal belongings.

Similarly, in Zimbabwe, female participation in armed robberies has been documented. In one case, four male robbers and their female accomplice were sentenced to 52 years in prison for a series of robberies and assaults.
