Akpoti’s Spouse Responds to Allegations Involving Akpabio
Emmanuel Oritsejolomi Uduaghan, husband of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has publicly defended his wife amid allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio. In a statement released on March 1, 2025, Uduaghan revealed that his wife had confided in him about her interactions with Akpabio, prompting him to meet with the Senate President to address the concerns. Despite reaching an understanding to resolve the issue amicably, Uduaghan stated that his wife continued to experience harassment from Akpabio.
Uduaghan expressed unwavering faith in his wife’s loyalty and called on the Senate and Akpabio to treat her with the respect and dignity she deserves. He emphasized that their marriage is grounded in love, compassion, and mutual respect.
The dispute escalated after Akpoti-Uduaghan accused Akpabio of blocking her motions and intimidating her following her rejection of his alleged advances. In response, Akpabio’s wife, Unoma Akpabio, dismissed these allegations and filed a defamation lawsuit seeking ₦250 billion in damages. Akpoti-Uduaghan has advised Mrs. Akpabio to allow her husband to defend himself, asserting that she possesses concrete evidence to substantiate her claims.
Former Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki has called for a transparent investigation into the allegations to protect the integrity of the Senate. He emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth without presuming guilt on either side.
