Ex-Manager of P-Square Accused of $1M and £34500 Theft

Legal Proceedings Against Jude Okoye for Alleged Theft

Jude Okoye, the former manager of the defunct music duo P-Square, has been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges of alleged theft totaling $1,019,763.87 and £34,537.59.

The charges, filed before the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja, accuse Okoye and his company, Northside Music Limited, of dishonestly converting funds intended for digital music distribution and publishing royalties between 2016 and 2023.

Specifically, the EFCC alleges that Okoye misappropriated:

  • $767,544.15 paid by Lex Records Limited
  • £34,537.59 from Lex Records Limited
  • $133,566.49 from Kobalt Music
  • $118,652.23 from Mtech Limited

These funds were purportedly meant for Peter Okoye’s royalties.

During the proceedings, defense counsel Clement Onwuenwunor (SAN) represented Okoye and his company, while EFCC’s Mohammed Bashiru led the prosecution. The court has scheduled a new date for the bail hearing, during which Okoye remains remanded in custody.
