Suspected Kidnapper Apprehended by Vigilante Forces in Kwara

In Kwara State’s Ifelodun Local Government Area, a coordinated effort between local vigilante groups and the police led to the arrest of suspected kidnappers and the rescue of abducted victims.

On February 28, 2025, Sule Saidu of Ahuro Fulani Camp was kidnapped by five armed men. A joint operation involving police detectives, hunters, and vigilantes intercepted the kidnappers along the Babanla/Oreke axis.

During the ensuing gunfight, one abductor was neutralized, and two others, Ibrahim Shehu (40) and Mohammad Lawal (25), were arrested; two suspects escaped with gunshot wounds. An AK-47 rifle and charms were recovered, and Saidu was rescued.

In a separate incident, a vigilante group in Oke-Ode apprehended Saleh Yusuf, a suspected kidnapper and ex-convict, and rescued abducted victims. Yusuf confessed to re-engaging in kidnapping post-incarceration and revealed his accomplices and possession of firearms.
