
Former Immigration Officer Charged with Arms Dealing
On February 27, 2025, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command arrested a dismissed Nigerian Immigration Service officer attempting to sell sophisticated firearms to bandits in the Zuma community, bordering Bwari area of the FCT and Kaduna State.
The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation by the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the FCT police. The suspect, whose identity has not been disclosed, was intercepted while attempting to deliver two CZ Scorpion EVO 3 A1 rifles to criminal elements operating in the Abuja-Kaduna area.
The CZ Scorpion EVO 3 A1 is a highly sophisticated, fully automatic firearm equipped with a built-in silencer. The recovered weapons are the latest 2022 models, capable of single, automatic, or burst firing modes, with magazines holding between 20 to 30 rounds. Additionally, 52 rounds of 9mm ammunition were seized during the operation.
