Senate Inquiry on Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Blocked by Court
A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued an interim injunction restraining the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions from proceeding with disciplinary actions against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central.
The court’s decision follows an ex parte application filed by Akpoti-Uduaghan’s legal team after an altercation during a Senate plenary session on February 20, 2025. The incident involved a dispute over the reallocation of her seat in the Senate chamber, prompting a motion by Senator Adeyemi Raphael Adaramodu to address the alleged breach of conduct.
In response, the Senate referred the matter to its Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions for investigation. However, the recent court order now restrains the committee from conducting any disciplinary proceedings against Akpoti-Uduaghan pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice for an interlocutory injunction.
