UNICEF Findings: Women’s Health in Rivers State
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reports that 91% of women in Rivers State deliver with the assistance of skilled birth attendants, significantly higher than the national average of 46%.
This achievement is attributed to targeted initiatives by the Rivers State Government, including the deployment of skilled birth attendants to 203 primary healthcare centres, supported by the World Bank IMPACT Program.
These efforts aim to enhance maternal and neonatal health by ensuring professional care during childbirth.
