UNICEF Reports: Children as Instruments of Conflict
UNICEF has reported a deeply disturbing trend in the ongoing Sudan conflict, revealing that infants and young children are being subjected to sexual violence, including rape, as a weapon of war. The humanitarian organization has condemned these atrocities, calling for urgent international intervention to protect vulnerable children caught in the crisis.
The conflict in Sudan, particularly between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has led to widespread human rights violations, with women and children suffering the most. Reports indicate that sexual violence is being used as a tool to terrorize communities and exert control.
UNICEF and other humanitarian agencies are calling for immediate action to stop these crimes and provide medical, psychological, and legal support to survivors. However, with the security situation worsening and limited humanitarian access, addressing these violations remains a major challenge.
