Fubara’s Alleged Leave Order for Chief Judge Denied
The Rivers State Judiciary has refuted claims that Governor Siminalayi Fubara directed the Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Chibuzor Amadi, to proceed on a one-year recess to impede an alleged impeachment process.
In an official statement, Chief Registrar David D. Ihua-Maduenyi labeled these reports as “malicious, misleading, false, and baseless,” clarifying that such an extended leave is not recognized within the judicial officers’ vacation calendar.
This clarification comes amid political tensions in Rivers State, where there are speculations about potential impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara. The Chief Judge’s role is pivotal in such processes, as they are responsible for constituting an investigative panel upon receiving allegations from the State House of Assembly.
