Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Receives Praise from Ezekwesili

Former Nigerian Minister of Education, Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, has criticized the Nigerian Senate for suspending Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, labeling the action as a “vicious abuse of power” and a “desecration of our public institution.” Ezekwesili’s remarks come in response to the Senate’s decision to suspend Akpoti-Uduaghan following her allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In a series of posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ezekwesili expressed her disapproval of the Senate’s handling of the allegations. She emphasized that instead of investigating the sexual harassment claims made by Akpoti-Uduaghan, the Senate chose to misuse its power. Ezekwesili wrote, “Investigate the accusation of sexual harassment is all that sensible Nigerians have collectively asked the @NGRSenate to do, but no, they have decided to choose the ignoble path of vicious abuse of power and desecration of our Public Institution @nassnigeria.”

Addressing Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan directly, Ezekwesili commended her resilience, stating, “Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, you have inspired a generation. You have inspired all credible citizens. You will never walk alone.”

Ezekwesili further criticized the Senate’s actions, noting that instead of addressing the sexual harassment allegations, they chose to suspend the accuser. She remarked, “When men, because of little power fleetingly acquired, start speaking like they are God, we all must remember what history reveals of their kind.”
