Senator Natasha Revives Harassment Petition Against Akpabio

Resubmission of Sexual Harassment Petition by Senator Natasha

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has resubmitted a sexual harassment petition against Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a recent plenary session. This time, the petition was presented on behalf of her constituents, led by Zubairu Yakubu. Upon submission, Senate President Akpabio inquired if the matter was sub judice, to which Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan responded negatively. Consequently, the petition was referred to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions, chaired by Senator Neda Imasuen, with instructions to report back within four weeks.

This resubmission follows a previous petition by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, which was dismissed due to procedural issues, including her personal signature on the document and an ongoing court case involving her and Ekaette Akpabio, the wife of the Senate President.

The current petition has been accepted for consideration, and the Senate awaits the findings of the Ethics Committee’s investigation.
