Andrew Cross, a 36-year-old YouTuber known as “Desert Drifter,” has tragically passed away after being taken off life support following a severe car accident. On January 31, 2025, Cross was involved in a high-speed rear-end collision at a stoplight in Colorado, resulting in a traumatic brain injury that left him in a coma for over a month.
Cross gained popularity for his adventurous content, including desert tours and mountain climbs, amassing over 700,000 subscribers since starting his channel in November 2023. His final video expressed gratitude to fans for their support and prayers.
The driver of the other vehicle, Ragnar Nickolas Kristl, has been charged with vehicular homicide, reckless driving, careless driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Cross’s family has received an outpouring of support, with a GoFundMe campaign raising nearly $500,000 to cover medical expenses. His wife, Evelyn, and other family members were by his side during his final moments, which were described as peaceful and filled with love.
His sister, Jenna Spooner, shared the news of his passing, stating, “Andrew’s spirit is free, surrounded by light & love.” She expressed immense gratitude for the support and prayers received during this difficult time.
