Olympic Athlete Becomes FBI’s Top Fugitive
Ryan James Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic snowboarder, has been added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list for allegedly leading a transnational drug trafficking operation and orchestrating multiple murders. Wedding, 43, competed in the men’s parallel giant slalom at the 2002 Winter Olympics, finishing 24th.
Post his athletic career, Wedding is accused of smuggling large quantities of cocaine from Colombia through Mexico and California to Canada and other U.S. regions. He allegedly directed the shipment of five metric tons of fentanyl per month and ordered multiple murders linked to the drug trade.
The FBI has issued a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to Wedding’s arrest, cautioning that he should be considered armed and dangerous. He is believed to be in Mexico but could also be in other countries.
Wedding’s associate, Andrew Clark, was arrested in Mexico and extradited to the U.S. last year.
The public is urged to provide any information on Wedding’s whereabouts to the FBI through various communication channels.
