Mason Greenwood Seeks Jamaica Allegiance After England Recall

Greenwood Pursues Jamaican National Team After England Decision

Mason Greenwood, a 23-year-old forward currently playing for Olympique de Marseille, has formally requested to change his international football allegiance from England to Jamaica.

This decision comes after Greenwood’s international career with England has been on hold since 2022, following his arrest on charges that were later dropped in 2023.

Greenwood, who qualifies to represent Jamaica through his father, made his sole appearance for England in September 2020. Despite his strong performances at the club level, including 15 goals in 24 matches this season, the England national team has not called him up, leading to his decision to switch allegiance.

The process to switch international allegiance is irreversible. Greenwood is expected to debut for Jamaica during the World Cup qualifiers in June. However, Marseille will not release him for Jamaica’s friendly matches next month
