Missing Woman Reunited with Family After 25 Years

25 Years Later: Abducted Child Discovered Safe

In a remarkable turn of events, Andrea Michelle Reyes, who was abducted at 23 months old in 1999 from New Haven, Connecticut, has been found safe in Puebla, Mexico, after more than 25 years.

Her abduction occurred when her non-custodial mother, Rosa Tenorio, took her, leading to a prolonged search by her father, Carlos Reyes-Couvertier, a former New Haven Teacher of the Year.

The case remained unsolved until 2023, when Detective Kealyn Nivakoff reopened the investigation. Employing social media, interviews, and search warrants, Nivakoff pinpointed Andrea’s location. DNA testing conducted by forensic firm Othram confirmed her identity and her relationship with her father, culminating in their emotional reunion.

Despite the active felony arrest warrant for Tenorio in the U.S., she is believed to still reside in Mexico. Andrea, now 27, continues to live in Mexico, and the focus remains on rebuilding the father-daughter relationship after a quarter-century apart.
