Presidential Adviser on Livestock Reforms Appointed by Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Attahiru Jega, the former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as Special Adviser and Coordinator of the Presidential Livestock Reform Initiative. This appointment aims to advance reforms in Nigeria’s livestock sector, enhancing national development efforts.

Background on Professor Jega:

  • Academic and Professional Credentials: Professor Jega served as the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, and is currently the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education in Kano State.
  • Role in Livestock Reforms: He co-chaired the Presidential Livestock Committee alongside President Tinubu, which recommended the establishment of the Livestock Ministry, now operational with an appointed minister.

In his new role, Professor Jega is expected to drive meaningful progress in the livestock sector, reinforcing the reforms initiated by the Presidential Livestock Committee and ensuring their continued momentum.
