
Niger State Violence: Two Minors Shot in Love Rivalry
A violent altercation occurred on March 6, 2025, in the Chaichainiya area of Suleja Local Government, Niger State, involving students from Annur Islamic Model School and local youths. The conflict reportedly stemmed from a dispute over girlfriends.
The clash escalated when over 20 youths, led by an SS3 student named Umar Idris, armed themselves with dangerous weapons and invaded the area. During the confrontation, gunshots were fired from an unknown direction, resulting in two minors—11-year-old Immarana Hassan and 10-year-old Nura Jibrin—sustaining gunshot wounds to their thighs.
Both injured minors were promptly taken to Suleja General Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
In response to a distress call, police operatives and local vigilantes swiftly intervened to restore order in the community. Six suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend other individuals involved.
