A Firm Response: Mr. Macaroni on Sanwo-Olu
Nigerian comedian and activist, Mr. Macaroni (Adebowale “Debo” Adedayo), has reiterated his decision to refrain from acknowledging Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in public settings. This stance follows criticism over his previous refusal to greet the governor at a recent event.
In a statement addressing his critics, Mr. Macaroni emphasized his resolve:
“This is the last time I will address this matter. It is not worth my peace of mind. Since you people won’t stop attacking me because I didn’t greet Governor Sanwoolu, next time I see him, I still won’t greet him. And this time, even if he calls me I won’t answer. You people will cry today, tomorrow and forever!”
Mr. Macaroni’s strained relationship with Governor Sanwo-Olu dates back to the #EndSARS protests in 2020, during which he was arrested and allegedly mistreated by security forces—a situation he believes the governor had a role in. This experience has significantly influenced his current stance.
Despite facing backlash, Mr. Macaroni remains steadfast in his position, underscoring his commitment to his principles and his advocacy against perceived injustices.
