Inside Sheryl Sandberg’s Lavish European Getaway
According to a recent report by the New York Post, former Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg is accused of inappropriate behavior in a new memoir by ex-employee Sarah Wynn-Williams. The memoir alleges that during a European trip, Sandberg spent $13,000 on lingerie for herself and a young female assistant, and later invited the assistant to join her in bed on a private jet.
Wynn-Williams also claims that Sandberg and her assistant took turns sleeping in each other’s laps and stroking each other’s hair during the trip. Meta has dismissed these accusations as out-of-date and from a disgruntled former employee, stating that Wynn-Williams was fired eight years ago for poor performance and toxic behavior.
Wynn-Williams’ memoir, “Careless People: A Cautionary Tale of Power, Greed, and Lost Idealism,” provides an insider’s account of her six years at Facebook, highlighting troubling internal dynamics and secretive initiatives, such as attempts to enter the Chinese market. She has also filed a whistleblower complaint with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
Sheryl Sandberg stepped down as Meta’s COO in 2022 after 14 years with the company and announced plans to leave the board in May 2024 to focus on her foundation and philanthropic work.
