Ondo Abduction: Gunmen Take Nine Surveyors for Ransom
Gunmen have abducted nine surveyors in Ondo State, Nigeria, demanding a ransom of N100 million for their release. The incident occurred at Owode Ilu-Abo in Akure South Local Government Area while the victims were on assignment for Chief Oluwole Omotayo, the Ijemikin of Akure Kingdom.
The kidnappers initially contacted the families, demanding N100 million, later reducing it to N50 million after negotiations. Despite raising N20 million, the abductors rejected this amount, insisting on N50 million.
This abduction has intensified public concern over rising insecurity in Ondo State. On March 11, market women in Akure protested, blocking roads and demanding immediate action from authorities to secure the release of the victims and address the increasing frequency of such incidents.
