A Call to Action: President Tinubu and the Youth of Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerian youths to openly express their concerns and suggestions for national development. During the inauguration of the National Youth Conference Planning Committee, he stated, “Look at me in the face, tell me where you think it is wrong, and the way it is done, or suggestions, we will try to implement all of it as long as it is for the prosperity of this country.”
Emphasizing the pivotal role of youths, who constitute over 60% of Nigeria’s population, President Tinubu remarked, “You hold the advancement of this economy in your hands.” He assured them of his administration’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for their growth, stating, “I will continue to help navigate, push, and lift the heavy weights so I can clear the path for you to have a great future.”
The President also acknowledged the issue of youth migration, noting that “JAPA is due to lack of investments.” He expressed his dedication to reversing this trend by improving the domestic economy, saying, “If you grow prosperity back home and empower people, they will not bother leaving. They will stay home.”
In his closing remarks, President Tinubu expressed admiration for the energy and potential of Nigerian youths, quipping, “I like you. I can’t be youth again, maybe in the next life, I’m envious of all of you.”
