The Intersection of Personal Interest and Harassment Allegations
Umma Getso, the 2019 vice-presidential candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), has asserted that some women in politics falsely accuse men of sexual harassment for personal or political gain.
In a recent interview on Channels Television’s ‘The Morning Brief’ program, Getso emphasized the need to clearly define what constitutes sexual harassment. She remarked that certain women might exploit such accusations to serve their interests.
Addressing the specific case between Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central and Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Getso called for justice. She noted that if a female senator in such a position alleges sexual harassment, it could deter men from supporting women’s participation in politics.
