Dangerous Stunt Driving: Nigerians Detained in Thailand

Thailand Police Arrest Two for Stunt Driving Incident

On March 11, 2025, two Nigerian nationals were arrested in Phuket, Thailand, for engaging in dangerous stunt driving.

The individuals were observed drifting a white sedan at the Koh Kaew Intersection on Thep Krasattri Road, executing multiple spins amidst active traffic.

Following public reports and social media footage of the incident, traffic police from the Thalang Police Station initiated a pursuit. The suspects attempted to evade arrest by abandoning their vehicle and fleeing into a nearby forest but were apprehended shortly thereafter.

At the police station, the men refused to cooperate, opting to sing instead of responding to officers’ inquiries or submitting to drug tests. Further investigation revealed that one of the suspects, Anamere George, had a prior arrest for illegal entry and possession of cocaine. He had been granted bail but failed to appear in court as required.

The suspects face charges under Section 64 of the Immigration Act for illegal entry into Thailand, punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment and a fine of up to 50,000 baht. They are also charged under Sections 43(4) and 157 of the Land Traffic Act for reckless and dangerous driving, which carries a fine ranging from 400 to 1,000 baht.
