Gov Fubara's Commitment to Budget Presentation

Locked Out but Ready: Gov Fubara on Budget Plans

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was recently barred from accessing the State House of Assembly complex, where he intended to re-present the 2025 budget. Despite informing Speaker Martins Amaewhule of his visit, the assembly’s gate was locked upon his arrival, preventing him from entering.

Governor Fubara expressed dissatisfaction over this action, emphasizing his readiness to fulfill the Supreme Court’s directive to re-present the budget. He stated, “I had already informed the Speaker about my visit. I came to re-present the budget as directed by the Supreme Court’s ruling on February 28, 2025.”

The situation highlights ongoing tensions between Governor Fubara and the Rivers State House of Assembly, which remains largely loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike. This political divide has led to disputes over legislative procedures and budget approvals.

Despite this setback, Governor Fubara reiterated his commitment to re-present the budget whenever the assembly is prepared to consider it, underscoring his dedication to advancing the state’s legislative agenda.
