Governor Fubara Denied Access to Rivers State Assembly

Rivers State Assembly Locks Out Governor Fubara

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was denied access to the Rivers State House of Assembly complex in Port Harcourt. Arriving to present the 2025 budget in compliance with a Supreme Court ruling, Governor Fubara found the gates locked, preventing entry.

Accompanied by key officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, and Chief of Staff Edison Ehie, the governor attempted to engage with Speaker Martin Amaewhule but reported that calls went unanswered.

This incident highlights ongoing tensions within the Rivers State House of Assembly, where factions loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike have been holding sessions.
