Davidson College Welcomes Steph Curry as Assistant GM
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has accepted a role as assistant general manager for Davidson College’s men’s and women’s basketball programs, becoming the first active player in major U.S. professional sports to hold an administrative position with an NCAA team.
Curry, along with his wife Ayesha and Davidson supporters Don, Matt, and Erica Berman, is establishing an eight-figure fund to support the college’s basketball teams. This initiative aims to enhance the student-athlete experience at Davidson, reflecting Curry’s commitment to providing opportunities similar to those he enjoyed during his collegiate career.
In his new role, Curry will collaborate with general manager Austin Buntz to guide both the men’s and women’s basketball programs. He expressed his dedication to ensuring that Davidson’s student-athletes can compete at the highest levels, particularly in the evolving landscape of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.
Davidson College President Doug Hicks praised the Currys and the Bermans for their generous contributions, emphasizing that these efforts will significantly enhance the college’s athletic and educational offerings.
