SZA Celebrates 'S.O.S.' Tying with Jackson's 'Thriller'

SZA’s ‘S.O.S.’ Album Achieves Historic Milestone

SZA’s album SOS has achieved remarkable success, spending ten non-consecutive weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart. This accomplishment makes it the longest-running number-one album by a female artist in the past decade and the first R&B album to hold the position for its first seven weeks since Whitney Houston’s Whitney in 1987.

While SOS has broken significant records, it has not tied Michael Jackson’s Thriller for the longest consecutive run at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. Thriller held the top spot for 37 consecutive weeks following its release in 1982, a record that still stands.

SZA has not publicly commented on comparisons between SOS and Thriller. Her focus appears to be on continuing to create music that resonates with her audience, as evidenced by the recent release of the deluxe edition of SOS, titled Lana, which offers a softer and more relaxed sound.
