Qur’an Recitation Champion Abducted with Family in Katsina
On the evening of March 11, 2025, armed bandits abducted Abdulsalam Rabi’u Faskari, a distinguished Qur’an recitation champion, along with his father and brothers near Labin Bangori in Katsina State.
The family was returning home after Faskari had been honored by Governor Dikko Radda for his recent achievement at the 39th National Qur’anic Recitation Competition in Birnin Kebbi, where he secured first place in the 60 Hizbs memorization category.
Faskari is a 300-level medical student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, and serves as the Imam at the Masjid of the College of Medical Sciences.
The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) expressed deep concern over the incident, highlighting Faskari’s significant contributions to their community.
As of now, authorities have not released an official statement regarding efforts to secure the victims’ release.
This abduction underscores the ongoing security challenges in Katsina State, despite recent successes by security forces in rescuing kidnapped victims.
