
Cultist Arrested After Shooting Shop Owner in Osun
A suspected cultist, Segun Ogunfunmilayo, has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command for allegedly shooting a grocery store owner over a ₦900 transaction dispute in Ede, Osun State.
Incident Details:
- Date and Time: Saturday, March 8, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m.
- Location: Bihari/Ishola area of Ede, Osun State.
- Sequence of Events:
- Ogunfunmilayo purchased an energy drink worth ₦500 from the complainant’s shop and requested an additional ₦400 in cash to facilitate a ₦900 bank transfer.
- When the complainant did not receive the expected payment alert, he approached Ogunfunmilayo for clarification.
- In response, Ogunfunmilayo allegedly drew a cut-to-size pistol from his bag and shot the complainant in both the left hand and right arm before fleeing the scene.
Investigation and Arrest:
- Following the incident, the police, in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF), traced Ogunfunmilayo to his hideout.
- He was apprehended with a cut-to-size pistol and a live cartridge in his possession.
- Ogunfunmilayo confessed to being a member of the Alora cult group.

- The suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged in court upon completion of the investigation.
