Private Jet Operators: 40 Years of Illegal Activities Exposed

FG Reveals 40-Year History of Illegal Private Jet Operations

The Nigerian Federal Government has accused private jet operators of engaging in illegal activities for over four decades. Specific details regarding these alleged illegalities have not been publicly disclosed.

Historically, the misuse of private jets by public officials has been a concern. For instance, former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke faced allegations of recklessly spending government funds on private jets, among other corruption charges.

Similarly, former National Security Adviser Sambo Dasuki was implicated in a $2.1 billion arms procurement scandal, which included allegations of awarding contracts for military equipment that were never delivered.

Additionally, reports have alleged that current Attorney-General Abubakar Malami and his family amassed unexplained wealth during his tenure, including investments in properties and businesses, some funded through private jet travel.

These instances highlight the longstanding concerns over the use of private jets and other resources by public officials. The Federal Government’s recent statement underscores the need for increased transparency and accountability in the aviation sector.
