Troops Arrest Notorious Gunrunner in Plateau Operation

Plateau Operation: 21-Year-Old Gunrunner Arrested

Troops from the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army and Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have successfully neutralized two suspected kidnappers and arrested a notorious gunrunner in Plateau and Kaduna States.

Plateau State Operations:

  • Neutralization of Kidnappers: On March 12, 2025, troops conducted offensive operations in the Kuru and Turu areas of Jos South Local Government Area (LGA). During these operations, they engaged suspected kidnappers near high grounds in Kuru, resulting in the neutralization of two individuals. The suspects were found in possession of 18 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition and nine rounds of 5.56x45mm ammunition.
  • Arrest of Gunrunner: Also on March 12, troops set up snap checkpoints along the Bokkos–Bot–Mangu road in Bokkos LGA based on credible intelligence regarding arms movement. At approximately 10:30 a.m., they intercepted 21-year-old Sengi David from Kopal Village in Panyam District, Mangu LGA. David was found in possession of an AK-47 magazine with civil police markings and 48 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. He is currently in custody for further investigation.
  • Rescue of Kidnapped Victims: On March 12, troops conducted rescue operations near Josho Village in Daffo District, Bokkos LGA, following intelligence about kidnapped victims being held in the area. Upon arrival, the kidnappers abandoned the victims and fled, leading to the rescue of two female individuals.

Kaduna State Operation:

  • Arrest of Kidnapper and Gunrunner: On March 11, troops executed a sting operation in Garaje Community, Jema’a LGA, resulting in the arrest of 22-year-old Blessed Paul. Paul, who had been on security agencies’ wanted lists for kidnapping and gunrunning, was apprehended after being lured under the pretense of selling an AK-47 rifle for N1.5 million. A search yielded one AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, and two rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.

These operations underscore the military’s commitment to enhancing security in Plateau and Kaduna States by disrupting criminal activities and apprehending individuals involved in illicit arms dealings and kidnapping.
