Massive 200% Tariff Threat on EU Alcohol by Trump
President Donald Trump has threatened to impose a 200% tariff on European wines, champagnes, and other alcoholic beverages in response to the European Union’s recent 50% tariff on American whiskey. This escalation intensifies the ongoing trade conflict between the U.S. and the EU, which began after the U.S. implemented 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.
The EU’s countermeasures, valued at approximately €26 billion, target iconic American products such as bourbon whiskey, motorcycles, and boats. These actions have raised concerns about potential recessions and economic disruptions on both sides.
