JD Vance Warns: Deportation for Foreign Students Possible
U.S. Vice President JD Vance has stated that both green card holders and foreign students on visas could face deportation if their presence is deemed not to be in the United States’ best interest. In a recent interview, Vance emphasized that possessing a green card does not guarantee permanent residency, highlighting that the administration has the discretion to remove individuals if considered necessary.
Vance’s comments follow the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, a Columbia University graduate student and green card holder, accused of distributing pro-Hamas materials. The administration views such activities as conflicting with national security interests, reinforcing its stance on immigration enforcement.
Furthermore, Vance indicated that foreign students could also be deported if their actions are determined to be against the country’s best interests. He noted that the administration is prepared to take action against student visa holders engaging in activities viewed as threats.
