Diddy Pleads Not Guilty in Sex Trafficking Case

New Charges: Diddy’s Not Guilty Plea Explained

Sean “Diddy” Combs, the 55-year-old hip-hop mogul, appeared in a Manhattan federal courtroom on Friday, March 14, 2025, to plead not guilty to a new indictment in his ongoing sex trafficking case. This updated indictment expands upon previous charges, accusing Combs of coercing employees into long working hours and threatening those who did not comply with his alleged two-decade-long sex trafficking scheme.

Combs has been in custody at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center since his arrest in September 2024, following charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution. The prosecution alleges that from 2004 to 2024, Combs used his business empire, including Bad Boy Entertainment, to sexually exploit women. The new indictment further details allegations of “forced labor” and coercion of employees.

During the court proceedings, Combs appeared visibly aged, with gray hair and a beard, and was described as looking “bloated.” Observers noted his tired demeanor as he interacted with family members and his legal team.

A significant point of contention in the case is a video obtained by CNN, allegedly showing Combs assaulting his former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in 2016. Prosecutors intend to use this footage as evidence, while Combs’ defense team disputes its authenticity, claiming the video was manipulated.

The trial is scheduled to commence on May 12, 2025, with jury selection beginning on May 5. If convicted, Combs faces a potential sentence ranging from 15 years to life imprisonment.
