
Tragic Incident: Ogun Police Inspector Takes Own Life
On March 14, 2025, a tragic incident occurred at the Goodwill Ceramic Company in Igbesa, Ogun State, where Police Inspector Ajele Oloyede reportedly died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while on duty.
Incident Details:
- Discovery: Around 1:20 p.m., Officer Tolorunloju Stephen, returning from Ikeja, found Inspector Oloyede resting his head on a table in the security office. Upon inquiry, Oloyede assured Stephen of his well-being. Stephen then placed his bag and pistol on the table and proceeded to the restroom. Moments later, a gunshot was heard. Stephen and private security personnel found Oloyede lying in a pool of blood.
- Immediate Response: The wounded officer was rushed to Ota General Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
Official Response:
- Investigation: The Ogun State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Inspector Oloyede’s death. His service pistol was recovered at the scene, and his body has been deposited at Ota General Hospital for autopsy. The command is in the process of notifying his family.
