ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi: Police Officers and Integrity
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, has addressed the public’s perception of corruption within the Nigeria Police Force. He cautioned against generalizing all officers as corrupt, emphasizing that many within the force uphold integrity and possess a strong moral compass. In a recent statement, Adejobi remarked, “It’s unfair to generalise that the Police and corruption are 5 and 6, as many officers in the force have the fear of God.”
Adejobi’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about corruption in various sectors of Nigerian society. He acknowledged that while some officers may engage in unethical practices, it is unjust to label the entire police force as corrupt. He highlighted that numerous officers perform their duties diligently and ethically, guided by their conscience and professional standards.
The police spokesperson also emphasized the importance of recognizing and supporting the efforts of honest officers who strive to maintain law and order. He called on the public to avoid blanket judgments and to appreciate the complexities within the force, noting that such generalizations can demoralize officers who are committed to their duties.
