Trump Administration Deports Gang Members to El Salvador

Court Ruling Ignored: Trump Deports Alleged Gang Members

In a controversial move, the Trump administration has deported hundreds of alleged gang members to El Salvador, despite a federal court order temporarily halting such deportations.

Utilizing the Alien Enemies Act of 1798, President Trump authorized the removal of approximately 250 individuals, primarily members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua and the Salvadoran MS-13 gang.

These individuals were transported to El Salvador’s notorious Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), a facility known for its harsh conditions.

The administration’s actions have sparked significant debate. While the White House defends the deportations as a necessary measure to protect U.S. national security, critics argue that proceeding despite the court’s order undermines the judicial system and raises human rights concerns.

El Salvador’s President, Nayib Bukele, has expressed support for the deportations, viewing them as a collaborative effort to combat organized crime and bolster prison sustainability.
