Trump Declares Biden's Pardons 'Void' Due to Autopen Use

Biden’s Last-Minute Pardons Challenged by Trump

President Donald Trump has declared that presidential pardons issued by former President Joe Biden are “void, vacant, and of no further force or effect,” alleging that Biden’s use of an autopen—a mechanical device that replicates signatures—renders them invalid.

Trump criticized Biden’s mental acuity at 82, suggesting he was unaware of the pardons, which benefited members of the House January 6 Committee, including Liz Cheney and Bennie Thompson.

Legal experts note that the method of signing pardons is at the president’s discretion, and autopen signatures are legally binding. Therefore, Trump’s assertion that these pardons are void lacks legal merit.

Trump’s comments have sparked controversy, with discussions about the legitimacy of the pardons and potential investigations into their issuance. However, without concrete evidence of wrongdoing, overturning the pardons faces significant legal challenges.
