Milutin Osmajic Charged by FA for Racism Allegations

FA Charges Footballer Milutin Osmajic with Racism

Preston North End forward Milutin Osmajic has been charged by the Football Association (FA) for allegedly making a racist comment towards Burnley midfielder Hannibal Mejbri during their Championship match on February 15, 2025.

The incident occurred during the second half of the match, which ended in a 0-0 draw, when Mejbri reported to the referee that Osmajic had directed a racist remark at him. The FA’s charge specifies that Osmajic’s conduct constituted an “aggravated breach” of FA Rule E3.1, as it included a reference to race or color.

Following the incident, Burnley players requested Osmajic’s substitution, a plea that was declined by Preston’s interim manager, Stuart McCall, leading to tensions on the field. In a subsequent FA Cup match between the two teams, Burnley players collectively refused to shake hands with Osmajic as a form of protest.

Preston North End acknowledged the FA’s charge but have refrained from making further comments until the case is resolved. Osmajic has denied the allegations and is required to respond to the charge by March 25, 2025.

This is not Osmajic’s first disciplinary issue; in October 2024, he received an eight-match ban and a £15,000 fine for biting an opponent during a match against Blackburn Rovers.
