Ondo Police Capture Spies Supplying Food to Kidnappers
The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended two commercial motorcyclists, Komolafe Sunday (alias Veego) and Lekan Temitope (alias Legelege), for allegedly collaborating with kidnappers operating within the state’s forests. These individuals are accused of acting as spies and supplying essential provisions to the kidnappers.
Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, disclosed that Sunday’s arrest on February 22, 2025, was facilitated by the police special squad utilizing technical support. During interrogation, Sunday confessed to assisting kidnappers by delivering food to their captives and receiving payments based on the number of victims. He also admitted to monitoring road movements to provide information to the criminals.
His confession led to the subsequent arrest of two suspected kidnappers, Umaru Abubakar Sanda and Yusuf Ahmadu, in Akunu-Akoko.
Further investigations revealed that Temitope, also a commercial motorcyclist, was involved in supporting the kidnappers by transporting supplies and aiding their movements. The police operation also resulted in the arrest of two additional suspects, Ridwan Salisu (45) and Umar Isyaku (19), from whom ₦3.6 million in cash was recovered.
The suspects claimed the money was from their Point of Sale (PoS) business; however, authorities are investigating its potential links to ransom payments.
