FFK Praises Tinubu’s Emergency Declaration in Rivers State
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State. In a statement shared on his verified Facebook account, Fani-Kayode remarked, “When children refuse to stop fighting, the father must step in lest they burn the house down,” commending the President’s decisive action.
Fani-Kayode described the President’s move as “bold and commendable,” expressing confidence that it would restore peace and stability in Rivers State. He further noted that this intervention is expected to bring the major players in the ongoing conflict to their senses, preventing further escalation.
The declaration of a state of emergency by President Tinubu was prompted by escalating political tensions and recent incidents of pipeline vandalism in Rivers State. The President suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy Ngozi Odu, and all members of the state House of Assembly for an initial period of six months. Retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas has been appointed as the administrator to oversee the state’s affairs during this period.
