Gov Fubara and Family Depart State Government House

Fubara Family Moves Out of State Government Residence

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, along with his family and security personnel, vacated the Government House in Port Harcourt on Wednesday morning, March 19, 2025.

This move follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and the subsequent suspension of Governor Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for an initial period of six months.

The President appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Étè Ibas (retired) as the sole administrator to oversee the state’s affairs during this period. Reports indicate that Governor Fubara vacated the official residence on Wednesday morning, a day after the emergency declaration.

The declaration of emergency rule has elicited mixed reactions nationwide. Some Nigerians view it as a necessary step to restore stability, while others perceive it as an overreach of executive power.

As of now, the situation in Port Harcourt remains calm, with residents continuing their daily activities amidst discussions about the recent political developments.
