PDP Governors React to Fubara’s Suspension and FCT Minister
Governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, which resulted in the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara and other elected officials.
They describe this action as a “grievous mistake” and an “atrocious and retrograde decision,” urging the President to reverse it promptly.
The PDP Governors’ Forum expressed concern over President Tinubu’s perceived political bias, particularly regarding the role of Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State, in the ongoing crisis.
They highlighted the President’s silence on Wike’s involvement, suggesting it enables the ongoing impasse.
The Forum also announced plans to challenge the suspension in court, asserting that the declaration of a state of emergency does not justify the removal of democratically elected officials.
