Gov Soludo: Nnamdi Kanu’s Release Not Tied to S-East Issues

Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has clarified that his advocacy for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is distinct from addressing security challenges in the South-East region.

During a media chat marking his third anniversary in office, Governor Soludo emphasized that Kanu’s release is intended to facilitate discussions about the long-term future of the Igbo people, rather than serving as a direct solution to the region’s insecurity.

Governor Soludo further addressed the criminal activities in the South-East, noting that while an olive branch has been extended to kidnappers and bandits for rehabilitation and empowerment, those who refuse will face decisive action. He also criticized Simon Ekpa, who claims leadership of IPOB in Kanu’s absence, accusing him of exploiting the situation for personal gain and contributing to violence in the region.

This clarification underscores the governor’s commitment to separating the legal and political considerations surrounding Nnamdi Kanu from the immediate security measures being implemented to combat criminal activities in the South-East.
