
N2.2m Recovered as Plateau Security Arrests Kidnappers
In recent security operations across Plateau and Kaduna states, troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have achieved significant successes in combating criminal activities:
- Rescue Operations: Between January 24 and March 12, 2025, OPSH troops rescued 49 kidnapped victims, underscoring their commitment to safeguarding civilians.
- Arrests and Recoveries: During these operations, 17 criminals, including kidnappers and bandits, were neutralized, and 17 suspects were arrested for offenses such as gunrunning, kidnapping, and banditry. Additionally, security forces recovered over ₦2 million in cash, seven AK-47 rifles, six fabricated rifles, three fabricated pistols, and 222 rounds of various ammunition.
- Specific Raids: On March 15, 2025, troops conducted a raid in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, leading to the arrest of two notorious kidnappers, Bashir Mohammed and Ismail Mohammad. An AK-47 rifle and a magazine were recovered during this operation.
These coordinated efforts reflect the ongoing commitment of security agencies to address and mitigate criminal activities in the region, aiming to restore peace and security for residents.
