Imo Landlord Arrested After Shooting JSS1 Student
The Imo State Police Command has apprehended a landlord for allegedly shooting a Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS1) student named Paul. The incident occurred when Paul attempted to retrieve a football that had inadvertently entered the landlord’s compound during a game.
The event took place at Urban Secondary School in Area N, World Bank Housing Estate, Owerri. While playing football with his peers, the ball landed in the neighboring property. In an effort to retrieve it, Paul jumped into the compound, at which point the landlord allegedly shot him in the waist, resulting in critical injuries.
Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, confirmed the arrest of the landlord and stated that investigations are ongoing. He also noted that Paul is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
Paul’s guardian, Jonathan Odikanwa, expressed deep concern for the boy’s health, emphasizing that his primary focus is on Paul’s recovery rather than escalating the matter. Odikanwa mentioned that, although an X-ray revealed no bullet lodged in Paul’s body, the boy is experiencing complications that have necessitated surgery.
