Karu Bridge Incident: Truck Overturns After Abuja Explosion
On March 19, 2025, a tragic incident occurred near the Karu Bridge on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway involving a Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) tanker. The tanker reportedly lost control and collided with multiple vehicles, resulting in a devastating explosion.
Initial reports confirmed six fatalities and 14 vehicles engulfed in flames. Subsequent updates from the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD) indicated that the death toll had risen to ten, with several others sustaining injuries.
In the aftermath of this explosion, another incident exacerbated the situation. A fertilizer-laden truck overturned near the same Karu Bridge location, further disrupting traffic and complicating rescue operations. Eyewitnesses reported that the overturned truck blocked the route leading towards Nyanya, causing significant delays for commuters.
